The US and Canadian stores use Eastern midnight for the whole country. That puts the release at 11pm Central, 10pm Mountain and 9pm Pacific on 18 November. These are the stores' own timestamps. Rockstar hasn't published an unlock rule, and the PlayStation Store's times weren't part of this check.
Pre-load and download size
You can pre-load seven days early, from 12 November, but no official download size exists yet.
The PlayStation Store lists a 7-day pre-load on both editions. Rockstar's support pages put the start at local midnight on 12 November, and boxed copies carry a download code rather than a disc. The size most often repeated is about 210 GB on PS5, traced to an account that tracks PlayStation file sizes. Rockstar hasn't confirmed it.
What Take-Two has said about sales
Nothing about GTA 6 itself, because the game isn't on sale yet beyond pre-orders.
Take-Two's quarterly filing, 7 August 2026.
Take-Two's quarterly filing describes the series GTA 6 follows. GTA V has sold-in over 230 million units since 2013, and sold-in counts boxed copies shipped to shops as well as digital sales. The whole series stands at over 470 million, so GTA V alone is about half of it. For the year to 31 March 2027, the window that includes the launch, Take-Two expects net bookings of $8.0 to $8.2 billion and ties that outlook to the 19 November release.
The report on 9 November covers the three months to 30 September, before launch. The first quarter that includes launch sales ends on 31 December.
How much did GTA 6 cost to make?
Take-Two has never published a budget, and its chief executive has declined in interviews to give one.
The figure you'll see most is $1 billion to $1.5 billion, an analyst's estimate. Treat it as a forecast, which is why it sits in the table below with the others.
Forecasts, not results
Analysts publish their own estimates for GTA 6, and none of these numbers comes from Rockstar or Take-Two.
Analyst forecasts, not results, collected 29 Oct 2026.
Published forecasts, collected 29 Oct 2026
| Forecast | Estimate | Made by |
|---|---|---|
| Development cost | $1 billion to $1.5 billion | An analyst estimate |
| First-year sales | About 40 million copies, $3.2 billion | A games market-research firm |
| First-year sales | 45 million copies | Analysts at a US bank |
| Sales by April 2027 | 35 million copies | An investment bank |
| Sales in Take-Two's year to March 2027 | 60 to 70 million copies | An investment research firm |
The spread runs from 35 million to 70 million copies, partly because each firm measures a different window. None of it is advice on Take-Two's shares.
