Is there a stock market in GTA 6?
None has been shown. No stock market, exchange or investing app appears in any GTA 6 trailer, preview or Rockstar page, and the idea rests on an insider rumour from 2021.
GTA 6's economy, as previewed, runs on what you steal and sell rather than on shares.
- Shown by Rockstar
- No
- The rumour dates from
- 2021
- In GTA V
- Two markets
Why do players expect a stock market?
Because GTA V had the best one in the series, and its assassination missions turned it into a money machine.
GTA V story mode, for comparison. The price line is an illustration.
GTA V's story mode ran two exchanges. The trick was simple: buy shares in a rival company before the hit, sell after the price jumps. Players who timed all five commonly finished near $2 billion across the three characters, which is more than anything else in GTA V paid.
| Market | What moved it |
|---|---|
| LCN | Offline. Prices reacted to story missions, about one in-game day later. |
| BAWSAQ | Online. Moved by what players bought and sold. |
| Lester's assassinations | Five hits. Buy the rival before each one, sell when it jumps. |
Where the GTA 6 rumour started
One insider claim from 2021, half of it since withdrawn by the same insider.
Rockstar has never mentioned a stock market for GTA 6.
In June 2021 a well-known insider wrote that the stock market would return in GTA 6, with a broker for cryptocurrency and missions that pay in crypto. In February 2026 the same insider said the crypto feature had been scrapped years earlier. The stock market half was never confirmed or withdrawn, and nothing Rockstar has shown since supports it.
The rest of the talk is guesswork. Some fans read the redesigned phone, with its app-style menus, as room for a trading app. A "FinchFund" trading app circulates online with no source behind it at all.
DacityCoin is a name on a plane
A stunt plane in the launch trailer carries the name DacityCoin, and nothing shows it's a currency.

Fans quickly read the name on the 15 October launch trailer's plane as in-game crypto. Nothing in the trailer shows it can be bought, held or traded. A real-world memecoin borrowed the name within days; it has no connection to Rockstar.
What the previews show instead
The economy Rockstar showed previewers is physical: loot, cash and the bank.
Money starts with robberies and stolen goods, then moves from loot to cash to the bank through fences and ATMs, and story missions wait on cash goals. Your bank account in the BuckMe app is a place to keep money safe, not to grow it. The full picture is in how money works in GTA 6.
Crypto and real-money scams around GTA 6
GTA 6 pays nothing out in real money, and the hype has drawn scammers.
Scams already reported around GTA 6, October 2026.
- Cash-out coins
- A fake leaker promised a game currency you could cash out, sold a coin on it before the August reveal, and vanished with about $250,000.
- Early access keys
- Sites selling beta or early access keys for crypto. There is no public beta.
- Leaked copies
- Fake downloads of the game have installed malware that empties crypto wallets.
- GTA 6 money
- Sellers already list it. Nothing they sell is real, and the game has no way to receive it.
