Can you buy property in GTA 6?
You can buy garages, but not homes or businesses. Garages are sold across Leonida and hold the cars you keep, while safehouses come with the story.
No business you can own or run for income has been shown, so GTA V's property empire doesn't carry over so far.

What you can buy, and what you can't
Garages are the only property on sale. Safehouses come with the story, and every business belongs to someone else.
As shown in previews and Rockstar's store listings, October 2026.
| Property | Can you buy it | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Garages | Yes | Sold around Leonida. They store the cars you register and add room for more. |
| Safehouses | No | Jason and Lucia live where the story puts them. |
| Businesses | Not shown | No preview, trailer or Rockstar page shows one you can buy, run or earn from. |
| Ultimate Edition shops | No | Five shops you get to use, not shops you own. |
Garages: the one property on sale
You start with room for three personal cars, and once they're full you have to sell one to make space.
Rockstar, in a preview interview, August 2026.
Garages exist because cars are worth money in GTA 6. A stolen car you pay to register becomes yours, and it needs somewhere to live. Your own cars collect at each character's home, and garages add space on top of that, which is what Rockstar described to previewers. Prices and the number of garages haven't been shown.

Rockstar's store listing for the Ultimate Edition describes Paradise Garage as having "a secure place to deposit stolen goods to be fenced", and the pre-order Shore Court garage is reported to have the same drop, plus a weapon locker. A garage is a base for robberies as much as a car park.
Garages that come with an edition
Two garages are tied to how you buy the game.
From edition summaries, October 2026
| Garage | Where | Comes with |
|---|---|---|
| Shore Court Garage | Ocean Beach, Vice City | Pre-order bonus |
| Paradise Garage | Watson Bay | Ultimate Edition |
The Ultimate Edition also opens five shops: Rideout Customs in Vice City, One-Eyed Willie's at Lake Leonida, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305 and the Electric Fang tattoo parlour. You shop there; you don't own them. The official edition contents are on Rockstar's GTA VI site.

Where do Jason and Lucia live?
The story decides where the pair sleep, which is why you can't buy a home.

The first trailer showed the Starlet Motel in Port Gellhorn, and the second a property in the Leonida Keys. Rockstar's character profiles say Jason lives rent-free at Brian Heder's place in the Keys, in return for helping with Brian's shakedowns. Two videos add that the safehouse changes from chapter to chapter, and one preview mentions stashing drugs there before selling them on.

Every business you see belongs to someone else
Leonida is packed with businesses, and the ones Rockstar names all belong to characters.
From Rockstar's character pages for Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan and Real Dimez.
Rockstar describes Boobie Ike's legitimate empire spanning real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio
, paid for, in his words, by the club money and the drug money. Brian runs a boat yard. Dre'Quan has signed the rap duo Real Dimez to his label.
That is the story's economy. None of it has been shown as something you can take over.
How GTA V did it
GTA V's story let you buy businesses that paid every week. GTA 6 hasn't shown anything like it.
GTA V for comparison only. GTA Online is a separate game.
In GTA V story mode, properties were the long game: you bought a bar, a cinema or a golf club and collected a weekly income. GTA Online later built a whole economy of businesses, but that is a separate game and none of it carries into GTA 6's story.
GTA 6 previews point the other way. Money comes from what you steal and sell, and the only property for sale is somewhere to keep your cars.
